A weekend on the Etruscan Coast

arrival in the evening at Piazza dei Ciclamini. The yard is paid for from 8am to 8pm, so arriving after dinner the first night costs nothing. Dinner in the motorhome and a short walk through the village, which in June is still quiet in the evening. The sand is four hundred and fifty metres away, on the other side of the pine wood: you hear it and you do not see it.

a full day by the sea, with the wooden walkway over the dune ten minutes on foot from the yard. The seabed stays shallow a long way out and the beach holds the Blue Flag; beach clubs alternate with free stretches, so you find a place without booking. In the afternoon, for anyone with bicycles, the cycle path through the pine wood runs to Cecina and back: five kilometres each way, all in the shade. The village is best seen in the evening, when the flower squares fill up.

seven kilometres from Bibbona to Marina di Cecina and the motorhome parked at the water park, two hundred metres from the turnstiles. A day inside the Acqua Village until it closes at 6pm: it is worth going in at opening time, because from eleven onwards the stairs to the slides are already full. Then thirty-two kilometres to Livorno, dinner in the Venezia quarter among the canals and the bridges, and home again during the night. No overnight stop: we sleep at home.
