The Lazaun toboggan run at Maso Corto
a gondola up to the mountain hut at 2,427 metres, then 3.3 kilometres down through the larches of the Val Senales
The Lazaun gondola leaves from the bottom of Maso Corto and in four minutes reaches the ground above the tree line, where the run begins. From up there it is 3.3 kilometres down: first the open plateau, then the larch wood, finally the hairpins that bring you back to the bottom station. A run takes ten to fifteen minutes, and with a day ticket you repeat it as often as you like. Anyone who would rather not pay for the lift can walk up on path no. 11A.
Getting there
- From the motorhome area you walk along the village road, following the signs for Cabinovia Lazaun or Lazaunbahn
- You set off from and return to the Lazaun bottom station, which is not the glacier cable car: they are two separate lifts
- Instead of the gondola you can walk up on path no. 11A, about an hour and a half
- The run is for toboggans only, walking on it is forbidden
Practical information
Duration ten to fifteen minutes a run, depending on your speed and how often you stop; with a day ticket you repeat it as often as you like, and between runs you sit at the hut
When to go December to April
Suitable for from age 6-7 upwards, smaller children on two seater toboggans with an adult or on short ones; the run is not suitable for anyone with reduced mobility, while the gondola is wheelchair accessible
Booking not needed for the run itself; the toboggan hire is worth booking online on high season weekends

- Toboggan hire at Maso Corto from Sportservice Erwin Stricker and SkiFactory, bookable online
- A helmet is strongly advised and is hired along with the toboggan
- What to bring: waterproof jacket and trousers, waterproof gloves, sunglasses or goggles, snow boots with a non slip sole, sun cream
- Brake before the bends and not inside them, keep ten to fifteen metres from the person ahead, and after a fall move to the edge at once
- Quieter from Tuesday to Thursday and first thing in the morning; February weekends and Carnival are best avoided
- Ticket and hire prices are to be checked on the official site
- The gondola also serves the footpaths in summer, and the hut stays open for walkers
